My Howick
Historical Village Trip
On Tuesday the
junior syndicate went to the Howick Historical Village because we are learning
about change in the past and in the present.
First we all got
into groups because we had to go to four different activities. My first
activity was the inside toys and my favourite toy there was the gingerbread man
race. The little gingerbread man is at the bottom of the string and there’s a
little bit where you have to pull so the gingerbread man goes up. There are two
of these gingerbread men and the first person to get their gingerbread man to
the top of the string wins.
Next my group went
to the outside toys. I liked the outside toys because most of the toys were
made of wood and metal which made them hard but fun!
After that my
group went to the old school. I liked the old school because the teacher would
pick a student to come up the front of the class to count in twos and the
student up the front would have to look out for people that weren’t counting in
twos. If they weren’t they had to write on the slate board ‘I need to learn my
times tables 100 times’ – that’s a lot of times!
Finally my group
went to nursery rhymes. My favourite nursery rhyme was Jack Be Nimble because
we had to jump over the candlestick and try not to get burnt.
I loved going to
the Howick Historical Village. My favourite activity was the old school because
it would be funny if you would actually have to write ‘I need to learn my times
tables 100 times!’

wacked with the stick and it was so so so so funny!
I loved the old
school because the teacher did teaching with the children and teaching with the
maps and she did weird things!

the candlestick but we couldn’t touch the candle stick so we didn’t get burnt.
Next we went to
play with the toys and we had to try and work out how the toys work and try to
guess what they were made of. They were made of metal and wood and paint and
string.
Finally we went to
the outside toys. I rode a wooden horsey and it felt like I was on an alive
horse. I could run in circles very fast.
I loved the trip

Historical Village Trip
Last week Room 14
went to the Howick Historical Village because we are learning about change.
First I did
nursery rhymes. I sang Jack be nimble and we had to not put out the candle. I
also learnt some other nursery rhymes from the past. They didn’t have TVs in
the past so they sang nursery rhymes instead!
Next I went to the
indoor toys and when the teacher told us to change we had to give the toy to
the child beside us. The indoor toys were interesting because they were made of
wood and rope and glass and metal.
Finally I went
into the very very old school and I learnt that they didn’t use pencils to
write. They used rock and it was noisy!
I loved going on
that trip because it was interesting and exciting. I felt like I had travelled
back in time!
